Ranking of Star Wars movies

The Star Wars fan base has been and will probably always be split on this and no one will ever agree. Once the prequel trilogy came out there was instant backlash from the original trilogy fanbase who for some reason feel that if a Star Wars movie is not exactly the same as the originals then it sucks. Now that the sequel trilogy has come out the OG trilogy fans and the prequel fans have a common dislike in the new movies and if I am being honest I am one of the people that is not a huge fan of the new movies. This is actually a hard list to make because for the most part I love all of the movies but here we go…

#11 Star Wars: The Last Jedi

If there is anyone that thinks this movie deserves to be ranked anything but last then you are just wrong, plain and simple. I cannot begin to express how much I do not like this movie, if this helps at all, I have collected every Star Wars movie even now in the times of Disney+ but I have yet to and likely never will buy this movie just out of spite. Luke Skywalker was just weird, I believe even Mark Hamill said that in that movie that was not the Luke we know. Every time I thought it was about to get serious they would throw in some stupid comedy and then by the end of the movie after not being trained Rey is extremely powerful. Every movie after on this list I can honestly say I like equally but this one HAD to be put last.

#10 Solo: A Star Wars Story

I only liked this movie, many people I talk to tell me they still have not even seen it and that does not surprise me much. Being that it is not a part of the “Skywalker Saga” then it is a very different movie than we are used to and just gives us a lot of background info. Also, to those of you that were angry that they brought back Darth Maul at the end and you are so sure that he is dead, just stop, watch the Clone Wars animated show. It is amazing and explains why he is alive.

#9 Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The hype behind this movie was unreal, I was so excited to see it and honestly it brought a tear to my eye to hear the theme start and seeing STAR WARS fly through the stars after so long. After a few times watching it I did realize that the references to the old movies and seeing all the old characters really made people love it more but I am fine with that because this movie is better than people give it credit for.

#8 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

I really want to rank this movie higher on the list, but the other movies ahead of it just cannot be taken over. I was so worried that this movie was going to completely suck and I am sure some people think it did but hear me out, J.J. Abrams did a really good job with The Force Awakens and set up a good story line for the next two movies and then Disney decided to just go in a totally different direction with the dumpster fire that was the Last Jedi. That being said I was very happy to hear he was coming back for this movie and he did the absolute best that he could with what he had and I think he delivered.

#7 Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

Another movie that I wish I could put higher but there are only so many spots on this list so here we are. Not only is the prequel era my favorite but it is the start of the Clone Wars which brought us the absolute masterpiece that is the Clone Wars animated series. Who can forget the amazing battle scene on Geonosis at the end? And of course we got the best version of Obi-Wan Kenobi ever…Jesus Obi-Wan.

#6 Star War: A New Hope

I will always have love for the original Star Wars movie but now that we have so many Star Wars movies I can’t help but want to watch a different one. Other than that I have nothing bad to say about this movie it is a classic and if I was not such a prequel fan then it would have a higher rank.

#5 Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

I know, I know, this is widely accepted as the best Star Wars movie but it is just not my favorite. Let me be clear that if I could I would have stopped after 8 on this list and just made the rest tied for first so this is really hard for me to put this at the five spot but to this day I get kind of bored watching this one.

#4 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

This movie really surprised me, I did not expect it to be as good as it was. Learning more about the construction of the Death Star and seeing it in action was great, and Darth Vader’s hallway scene at the end had me left speechless, we have not have a chance to really see what Vader was really capable of due to the older movies being made so long ago but this was a real treat.

#3 Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

I will argue with anyone about this one, I know there are many people out there that do not like this movie but I cannot see how anyone does not like it. Darth Maul is one of my favorite characters in all of Star Wars, Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn, young Obi-Wan, this movie has everything I love about Star Wars and everyone loves the Duel of the Fates, the fight between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul.

Side Note: I still have a Darth Maul Lightsaber to this day and am taking challengers for a duel.

#2 Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

For the longest time this was my absolute favorite, it was the perfect ending to an amazing trilogy there is no need to explain why this is so good. I say it was my favorite for the longest time because I was waiting for…….

#1 Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

There is nothing that can change my mind about this one, I still remember seeing it in theaters as a kid and right away it was my favorite and always will be. I do not see how anyone can not like this movie, the cool thing about this movie was going into we kind of knew what was going to happen, Anakin will turn to the Dark side and become Darth Vader but seeing how it happens and seeing the saga that started back in 1977 finally be complete was just great.
